Transport Worksheet¶
Optional Worksheet
If there is no Transport worksheet in the forest description workbook then the system does XYZ
Defines the cost of delivering one unit of log volume from an origin (as defined on the worksheet 'Plunits') to a destination in the allocation model. If an origin to destination combination is not valid, then no data should be entered for that combination in the transport matrix.
The forest estate model solution produces log grade products and log residue products at the origins that were defined on the worksheet 'Plunits'. Each planning unit has a mandatory origin, and this origin is the basis of allocating transport costs and distances.
The worksheet 'Transport' is a core data worksheet inasmuch as it defines all the possible destinations that can be referenced in the allocation model. If a destination is not defined on the worksheet 'Transport' it cannot be referenced on the worksheet 'Allocation'. The forest estate model transport costs, distances and any new log reside products are defined on the following worksheets:
The worksheet 'Transport' defines the cost of delivering one unit of log grade volume from an origin (as defined on the worksheet 'Plunits') to a destination that has been configured to be part of the allocation model. If an origin to destination combination is not valid, then no data should be entered for that combination in the transport matrix.
Data always start at Cell 'B4', with Column 'B' and Row 4 being mandatory. Users must not insert or delete rows or columns before Row 4 or Column 'B'. The ordinal positioning of the worksheet needs to be the same as the example forest description.
The worksheet 'Transport' is configured as a matrix with all the origins that appear on the worksheet 'Plunits' needing to be entered in Column 'B', and the name of each and every destination that will be required in the allocation model entered across Row 4.
The cost of transporting one unit of volume from an origin to a destination is then entered in the matrix. If the flow of volume from an origin to a destination is not allowed then leave the data blank for that particular matrix entry. An entry of zero ($0) is a valid entry and simply means that the cost of the transportation for that option is zero.
Warning
Every planning unit origin that has been entered in Column 'F' on the worksheet 'Plunits' is required to be listed in Column 'B' of the worksheet 'Transport'. In addition, origins and destinations can only be entered once in Column 'B' and Row 4, and duplicate entries will cause an error to be raised when the forest description is imported.
