3. Download and Install the Software

There are two sperate software components that need to be installed. The first of these requires full Administrator rights for the local machine on which the software is being installed. These two components are:

  1. The Software RunTime Environment (this needs Administrator rights on the local machine)
  2. The Software Interface (this is a simple copy process and can be completed by any user)

Install the RunTime Environment

There are a series of components and third-party libraries that the software needs to have installed. These have been bundled into a RunTime Environment (RTE) package for ease of use.

This RTE needs to be installed by a user that has full Administrator rights on the local machine's operating system, including the authority to halt all corporate level anti-virus processes on the local machine while the software installation is undertaken and completed.

The RTE package will ask for a local Administrator username and password if installation of the RTE is initiated by a user without the necessary Administrator rights.

DISABLE TREND-MICRO, WEBROOT OR OTHER ANTI-VIRUS SOFTWARE BEFORE INSTALLING THE RTE

IF YOU ARE RUNNING ANTI-VIRUS PRODUCTS SUCH AS TREND MICRO, WEBROOT OR KASPERSKY THEN THESE NEED TO BE DISABLED BY AN ADMINISTRATOR OF THE LOCAL MACHINE BEFORE PROCEEDING TO INSTALL THE SOFTWARE RUNTIME ENVIRONMENT.

IF YOU INSTALL THE SOFTWARE RUNTIME ENVIRONMENT WITHOUT COMPLETELY DISABLING THE ANTI-VIRUS PRODUCTS ON THE LOCAL MACHINE THEN YOU MAY NOT BE ABLE TO REQUEST A SOFTWARE LICENSE.

Download and save the Software RunTime Environment from the link below. Download the installation file to the local machine's hard drive (for example to C:\Temp or Downloads) and then double click this file to begin the software installation.

Do not save and run the Software Interface installation file from a network drive. Always install from the machine's local drive.

Download and Install the Software RunTime Environment

If Windows shows a warning such as that shown below when you run the installation file click More Info as shown and then click the button Run Anyway which will then be shown.

Request the Software Interface

The Software Interface needs to be installed for each user of a machine. The installation file for the Software Interface does not need full Administrator rights. The Software Interface should be installed by the end user when they are logged into the machine using their standard username.

It is important to request the correct version of the Software Interface according to the version of Microsoft Excel that is installed, i.e. is Excel 32-bit or 64-bit? A link to instructions on how to find this information is below.

Is Microsoft Excel a 32-bit or 64-bit Installation?

Use the key combination ALT+PRINT SCREEN to create a screenshot of the active window showing if Microsoft Excel is 32-bit or 64-bit and paste it into the email request for the interface. You can click on the link below to generate an email request for the Software Interface.

Request the Installation Files for the Tigermoth Interface

An example of an email request correctly showing the version of Excel is below.

Install the Software Interface

A link to the correct version of the Software Interface will be returned via email. Download the installation file to the local machine's hard drive (for example to C:\Temp or Downloads) and then double click this file to begin the software installation.

Do not save and run the Software Interface installation file from a network drive. Always install from the machine's local drive.

If Windows shows a warning such as that shown below when you run the installation file click More Info as shown and then click the button Run Anyway which will then be shown.

The default installation directory is C:\Tigermoth\35. This is the recommended location for installation because the interface does not require local administrator rights to install and does not need to access the local machine's registry.

The directory C:\Tigermoth can then be whitelisted from anti-virus scanning if necessary and future releases of the Tigermoth Software Interface can be installed to the same location. Instructions and examples for commonly used anti-virus products are located here.

It is strongly recommended that the software is not installed into the directory C:\Program Files because end users will require Administrator rights to update the software at a later stage.

After the Software Interface is installed, restart the machine and continue to Install the License.
